coded ui Integration RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

    1)From this link http://www.ranorex.com/ranorex-vs-codedui.html
    "Coded UI can work with TFS and MTM. If there is any deviation to the CI or TM environment, the integration is very difficult to maintain, if it is able to connect."

    2)I read somewhere that maintaining ui map in coded ui is difficult;

    test(recorded steps) can't be integrated to any framework architecture(examples??) and has very little scope of alterations.

    Can anyone explain more about these limitations in coded ui?

    Thanks

    I am not agreed with the opinion of the author in the link your shared.

    At first. I think code UI in MTM or TFS is easy to maintain.

    For example: if your were recording a test in MTM. If you want to modify the recording test. You can convent it to the Code UI test in Visual Studio then you can modify it.

    Also if you created a Code UI test in Visual Studio, you can link this Code UI test to a case in MTM. Then you can run this code UI test in MTM.

    So I don't think the integration is very difficult to maintain.

    In addition, for the UI map, you can maintain it using multiple UI maps. It is also easy to maintain.

    Please refer to the following document about "Testing a Large Application with Multiple UI Maps":
