WinDbg: How to get version info for the .exe from which a dump file was generated RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a crash dump file generated on a customer's machine.  I seem to recall reading about a WinDbg command I could use to get more info about the .exe module from which the dump was generated.  Specifically I'd like to see the version info for that .exe so I can match up the correct symbol files.  We don't use a symbol server for our symbols so its not automatic, I need to go grab the symbol .zip for the version in question.

    Is there such a command?

  • That worked!  Thanks!  And as it turned out, the dump was NOT from the version I thought it was :)
