100 % CPU usage RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have purchased and downloaded WiseFixer and Microsoft Fixit as recommended in various blogs.  My problem is that when launching from a link in an email or in an attachment to email, the system freezes, and I get the 100% cpu usage message.  I use the repair function on both of the above tools but the problem persists.

I am using a 6-7 year old Dell Dimension 4300 desktop with Windows XP Home Edition.  There is plenty of disk space for virtual memory, and I am not using heavy RAM usage products.

Every time I start up, Wise Fixer shows my computer's health at 71 or 76 with 1 registry error and seveal thougsand  "evidence" issues.  Occasionally, there will be a file association problem, but usually not.  Running  a scan and Repair All returns the health measure to 100%, but the freezes still occur.
