Determine chunk file size? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been asked to determine the chunk size of the MOSS server we're running, using the stsadm command.

I tracked down http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263384.aspx, which had this:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN>stsa
    dm -o getproperty -pn large-file-chunk-size -url http://server_name

I replaced "server_name" with the name of my server, but it's giving me:
    Command line error.
    Usage:
               stsadm.exe -o <operation> [<parameters>]
               stsadm.exe -help [<operation>]
               ....

I'm not seeing what the syntax issue could be. Any clues? Thanks.

  • It worked once I removed the -url part.

    Weird but true.

Thanks for looking into it John.

  • I think thats a service pack 1 command, do you have that installed as your syntax looks fine?

Oddly I have seen it happen before when you need to use -propertyname rather than -pn!

  • Thanks John. I tried it with -propertyname and got the same results. I see that "2007 Microsoft Office System Servers Service Pack 1 (SP1)" is installed.

  • Well I've checked your syntax on one of my installations, and it appears to be fine.  Have you tried to set the property?

I assume that your having no issues with other STSADM commands?
