Embedded Compact 7 and shared source code RRS feed

  • Question

  • I note the downloaded 'Eval' edition of Embedded Compact 7 does not include 'Private' tree shared kernel sources

Is the shared source code available with the MSDN Embedded Subscription?

Or is that only disributed with the full product releases through distributors?

    Thanks

  • Uhm, is this actually true?

I have an ultimate MSDN subscription which does include the full version, so I would be very surprised if the Embedded version of the MSDN subscription would include an eval instead of the full version of PB.

I can't believe this is true and I think the MS rep is wrong. Maybe someone with an embedded MSDN subscription can confirm?

  • I also have a MSDN Embedded subscription and my WEC7 is 'full featured', including the shared source.

But I think that Richard is reporting about the evaluation edition you can download from the MSFT site

  • According to MS Rep, Windows Embedded Compact 7 is not a full version within MSDN.

  • The answer from MS rep contacted by our purchasing dept, was specificly addressing MSDN Embedded subscription contents.

I know from personal experience, that Michael is rarely wrong.

Luca gets credit for the correct answer as well, as it addresses specific version in question.

    Thank you both!

Wow, that's actually pretty bad... I think we can safely say the MS rep was wrong. The MSDN Embedded Subscription does include a full version of WEC7.

Just making sure anybody reading this post in the future gets the story right.
