WORD 2010 Add-in written in JAVA RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd like to write a custom WORD 2010 Add-In using JAVA.  But, my understanding is that most of the WORD Object methods are not accessible to JAVA, is this correct??  So do I need to use C++ or C#??

    Thanks

  • Hi billwa992,

You are right, we cannot use Java to write Add-In for Word. We usually use C#,C++ or VB .NET in VS to build that which
provides the project type like AddIn or Template. Through that, we can achieve what we need quickly.
Here is a sample about Writing an MS Word AddIn
    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/COM/adwordaddin.aspx

Also a link where you can download AddIn samples in Word, Excel, Outlook etc. in C#, C++, VB freely
    http://1code.codeplex.com/releases/view/55110   (All-In-One-Code Framework   Office)
It provides the information of how to create a Word AddIn step by step.

And for deployment of AddIn, you can refer to Mary Lee's blog
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsto/thread/1666d2b0-a4d0-41e8-ad86-5eab3542de1e
    Hope they will be helpful.

    Best Regards,
