ScreenUpdating Not Working In Outlook 2010 Add-In RRS feed

  • Question

  • I seem to be having issues getting the screenupdating property to work in an Outlook 2010 addin. If I run the macro I end up getting an error message saying -

    Public member 'Screenupdating' on type 'ApplicationClass' not found

    I have had a look at this link but it has not helped - http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vsto/thread/fb39b8c1-2a0e-49a0-a88e-cb2f2bbc3820

    Does anybody have any idea on how to solve this issue? Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Louis

    I have included my code below -

    Imports Outlook = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook
    Imports System.Windows.Forms.Application
    Imports System.Windows.Forms
    Imports System.Drawing

    Sub printFirstPageMainRib(control As Office.IRibbonControl)

         Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ScreenUpdating = False

         'Send keys used for the main mail ribbon
         SendKeys.Send("%F")
         SendKeys.Send("p")
         SendKeys.Send("r")
         SendKeys.Send("{TAB}")
         SendKeys.Send("{TAB}")
         SendKeys.Send("{TAB}")
         SendKeys.Send("1")
         SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}")

         Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ScreenUpdating = True

    End Sub

  • no, outlook does not support such functionality. if you process many items at the same time in outlook its UI will freeze. For doing background processing you could use Redemption.
