How to connect metro app to java web services ?

    Question

  • Hi all

Currently am working on Windows 8 app development, in that I need to connect the web service which is developed in java , but I couldn't connect with it , while am trying to  add service reference in my project it showing the following error :

"Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: "My Web service URL"
an unexpected response: (407) Proxy Authorization Required.
The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again."

Please kindly anyone help me out from this issues

NOTE:  I need to know whether we can connect the soap services to metro app ?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

  • Yes you can.

You are being blocked by a proxy server on your network.  Please engage your Network administrator to find out why your app is being asked for authentication to reach your service:

The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.

  • Is Visual Studio able to connect to the webservice and add the reference?  It should pick up the proxy settings automatically.

If my reply answers your question, please mark this post as answered.

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
