Installation issues Surface Pro 3 and the Kinect/Zigfu/SDK (for XBox 360) RRS feed

  • INSTALLATION ISSUE for Surface Pro 3 and Kinect/Zigfu/SDK

    Hello,

I am a student at Univ. Baltimore and my class is developing programs for the Kinect.  Unfortunately my Surface Pro 3 seems to be having problems recognizing the Kinect…

Is there something you can do to help me use the Kinect with my Pro3?

    I have already

    1.        Downloaded Zifgu (122mb)
    2.        Downloaded SDK (200+mb)
    3.        Downloaded Unity and installed the Unity trial to access the Zigfu sample scenes within Unity.

    Known issues

    1.        Kinect doesn’t light up when connected to pro3
    2.     Doesn't even attempt to D/L drivers from the device

    Thank you

  • Not sure what Zigfu is but did you download the correct SDK for the Xbox 360 sensor. The correct SDK is the Kinect for WIndows v1.8 SDK and Toolkit(there are 2 files you download to get all the samples and get the SDK running)

You need to ensure you are using a debug build of the application to use the Xbox 360 sensor since we do not support commercial released products with that sensor.

Kinect for Windows v1 does not support Unity so you will need to write your own wrapper or find another wrapper that can be used with Unity. If your intent is to use Unity, our V2 SDK and Kinect for Windows v2 hardware(adaptor/Xbox One sensor) can be used with the official Kinect Unity plug-in
