Windows Store app: (Visual Studio 2013) cannot find StandardStyle.xaml

  • The default template doesn't include StandardStyles.xaml and when adding generic.xaml or themeresources.xaml (no mather which build option I use it doesn't work), binding {ThemeResource} contain no member at all

  • Yes, that is expected, unlike win8.0 project on Visual Studio 2012, win8.1 project on VS2013 does not have StandardStyle.xaml in the project.

    You don't need manually include xaml like "generic.xaml" or "standardStyle.xaml" but you can simply use them, they are included in the project automatically. You can find them via C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Include\winrt\xaml\design.

    To use the ThemeResource, you can find something like below while typing:

  • StandardStyles.xaml is no longer included in the template. The file was included in Windows 8 Visual Studio project templates to help style some areas of the template but it has been removed and the styles are now included in the framework itself.
