Sys is undefined RRS feed

We developed an ASP.NET 2.0 app with a few AJAX Toolkit controls, running on Windows 2003 Server, and browsing to it with IE 6.
The app worked fine for a few months.
As of yesterday, we began seeing "Sys is undefined" runtime errors.

I learned that many others have had this problem, and I have tried many of the recommendations from various articles and posts.
Primarily, I have made the web.config changes from the default web.config file, specifically to turn off compression.
I did an IISRESET after making the web.config changes, but still I get the runtime error.
Do I also need to reboot the IIS server?

Could it be due to an older version of the AJAX toolkit, and if so, how can I determine which version I am using?

I called Microsoft to open a support incident, and the technical router said I cannot create an incident for this problem, but that I must resolve it via this forum.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am coming up empty wherever I turn.

    Bob

    An update:

In order to test a particular business case, we had set the date and time on the IIS server back to 12/23/2007.  The system was working fine, no "sys is undefined" error.

The next day (after the date on the IIS server passed midnight, and therefore advanced to 12/24/2007), the system began to exhibit "sys is undefined".

Just now, I changed the system date to today's date (2/29/2008), and it began working again (no more "sys is undefined").

I then changed the system date back, first to 12/23/2007, then to 12/25/2007, and in both cases, it continued to work (no "sys is undefined").

My question now is: Does anyone have an explanation for what might be going on here?
I did read a post yesterday in which someone said that their problem was due to changing the system date.

    I am using IE 6.0.3790.1830.

Thanks, but I have already confirmed that all of the web.config settings from file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions\v1.0.61025" are in my web.config file,
except that in my web.config, I have <compilation debug="true">, not "false".

I also have this line, but I don't know if it has any affect: <location allowOverride="true" inheritInChildApplications="true"><appSettings> ... appsettings ...</appSettings></location>
