Mirror from 64 to 32 bits RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
Can I mirror a database from a Windows 2008 x64 server with SQL server 2005 64 bits version to a Windows 2003 Server 32 bits with SQL Server 2005 32 bits.
I'm trying but in the last operation I get the famous error "The server network address can not be reached or does not exist". I
I mirrored a database between 2 servers with the x64 version without problems. I think that there are no the typical errors in the commands (Can access the ports of the endpoints via telnet, I restore the database with the NORECOVERY options, databases are in the same path on both servers, etc...)
I make the mirror with the certificates method.
    Can anybody help me?

If you need aditional information I can post all the steps...

    Thanks

  • No issues related to 32 to 64 as long as the SQL versions have the same service pack.  I would check the usual including windows firewall, outside connections enabled, Named pipes enabled, Port not being used by another program, esc. Also don't forget to check the error in the windows application event log.
