Teredo bubble packet between winxp SP3 m/cs on the same link RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,
I have two xp sp3 m/c behind same NAT with a successfully assigned 2001: prefix teredo address which fails to ping each other. According to RFC, teredo client behind same link should send a multicast bubble packet on the IPV4 network. But the xp sp3 m/c is trying to send the bubble packets  directly to the other teredo client which happens only if the clients are in different sites. To confirm this , i downgraded my pc to sp2 after which the clients are able to ping each other after sending the multicast. Is this a behaviour with sp3 or iam missing something in winxp sp3 to enable multicast for clients behind same link?

  • I'm observing problems in a similar configuration: serveral XP SP3, and 1 Vista & 1 Seven in the same link. While communication between Vista & Seven works fine. Communication between Vista & XP works sometimes...

XP machines declare a cone NAT, while Vista & Seven declare a restricted NAT, although all machines are behind the same NAT device...
