  • Question

  • can azure live media do RTMP with no latency or extremely small latency under 100ms?

  • Not at this time.  We support RTMP as an 'ingest' protocol only at this time.  For output distribution we only support adaptive bitrate streaming protocols such as Apple HLS, MPEG-DASH, and Smooth Streaming.

We are looking into the low latency solutions but current latency of adaptive protocols is around 20 seconds ( a bit more on all iOS devices since Apple controls the client buffer and it buffers 3 segments of 10 seconds to begin with ).

  • This item is in our backlog, but we don't have a date for it. The latency is still in 20-25 sec.

  • Hi John, any news about this topic? Can we now have a very low latency platform, or i have to switch to another service? What a pity, AMS seemed the perfect solution... Is there any chance to directly access the stream data and manipulate without passing through Microsoft azure media player?
