Transfer logins and passwords from oracle to SQL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am migrating Oracle 11g database to MS SQL server using SSMA.

Are all the logins and passwords also migrated during schema and data migration using SSMA?

Or is there a separate step that we need to do after data migration to transfer all logins and passwords of users?

Is there any way we can verify that all logins and passwords are transferred successfully?

    Thanks.

Answers

  • No logins and passwords are migrated during the schema and data migration.

You need to manually create the logins and give a proper access in SQL

  • I'm not so sure this is possible; what platform is your Oracle database on (Solaris, Windows Server etc).

If the Oracle Database is on a Windows Machine then the Administrators Group on the Oracle host will have had full rights to the Oracle Database; this is why I asked what platform the Oracle Database is on.
