Database corruption when stored and edited on a Local Network folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everybody

We have a very strange Problem:

we create a database. Locally, it's working fine. As soon as we copy it to a Network Folder and try to edit it, we get error Messages: "ln is not an index in this table", "database not in a consistent state", "... corrupted".

We use Access O365 Pro plus. File Format: Access 2007 - 2016

    Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise

Server OS: Server 2012 R2 (Patched)

Does anybody know something about such a behaviour?

  • Reading between the lines you have an unsplit database on the server. That is a REALLY BAD idea, and a FAQ so you should have no problem locating articles about how to split an Access database into front-end and back-end.

After that you are still not out of the woods. Some people report this problem, and typically the workaround works for them: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/access-reports-that-databases-are-in-an-inconsistent-state-%ef%bb%bf-7ec975da-f7a9-4414-a306-d3a7c422dc1d
