chess board background RRS feed

  • Question

  • In just need a chessboard back grund that will not change

    .imgtype {
        margin-top: 200px;
        margin-left: 116px;
        background-repeat: round;
        background-image: url("/sets/jpc/brdimg35.jpg");

    brdimg35 consists of four squares to a chessboard. It is displayed so it is a full chess board.
    On top of that I display all the pieces as a gif image.

    The only problem is that the background keeps adjusting it sizes. I wish it would be a constant background image.
    you take out all pieces on a row, and it will regenerate the background.

    How do I get a constant background picture.

  • bit hard to say, without seeing what you mean, i am not too familiar with background-repeat: round, but as far as i am aware  that will set your background to scale up or down so that the background image can perfectly fit in without being cropped (i.e it will repeat itself over and over until it dont fit, and then start scalling them down/up until it fits).

    So if the container size changes, so will the the scale of the background, so either fix your container size or use  background-repeat:repeat (with fixed size container to the right size).
