Moving from Novell to Microsoft infrastructure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I have recently been appointed to a position as architect in a company where the IT infrastructure is Novell based. One of my tasks is to plan migration from the existing internal datacenter to an externally hosted setup based on Microsoft infrastructure, AD, File Shares etc. In my opinion it is a great chance to build the new location/infrastructure before migrating and I would like to make it a modern, based on best practices and reliant one. I have been trying to find an overview of minimum requirements in regards of servers needed and their recommended specifications but have not been able to. Can somehow help pointing me in the right direction?
Another aim on the longer term is to base as many business applications as possible on cloud services and we want to prepare the infrastructure for using ADFS, Dir Sync and Azure AD as well.

I am well aware that the migration itself is not an easy task but that is, for now, a different story.

    Thank you,

    Jesper Bergmann
