Ubuntu Repositories fail

Question

Hi

I have installed a VM Ubuntu Server 64 bits from canonical image and some repositories are failing.

Please, solve this, I can not install new packages, updates, etc.

The archive mirror is down. You can get around it by switching to another one.

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup
sudo vim /etc/apt/sources.list
:%s/azure.//g
:wq
sudo apt-get update

Yes, I know that I can change the mirrors but, I think that the azure mirrors are named "azure" for anything, or not? If not why canonical images are configured with this mirrors? The image could be configured with "no azure" mirrors...

Do you know if Azure mirrors are mantained for Canonical o for Microsoft? And

Which are the implications of using a mirror or other? They have the same packages?, They are mirrors or do they are different repositories with cloud optimized packages?

Now, the azure repositories are ok, but I think that the azure repositories don't have to be downed so much time.

I'm pretty sure they're maintained by Microsoft. It's hosted on Windows Azure after all.

Using the Azure mirror is probably faster than downloading from the official source.

They have the same packages?

I assume they just rsync from the official repo every once in a while so, yeah, same packages.

This is still a chronic problem. On all three flavors of Ubuntu. Can't even get a working copy of XRDP.
