Recreating a Linux VM from a saved image: attaching disks and configuring endpoints RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone found a way to avoid the tedious business of reattaching and remounting a data disk and reconfiguring endpoints to get a development CentOS VM back to usable after "saving your work" every few hours by capturing images?

I'm thinking I need to run a script at startup on the VM itself that invokes the Azure CLI tools to attach the data disk to itself, then invoke 'mount' to make the disk usable.  I can then programmatically add back all my endpoints that don't persist anywhere, as far as I can tell.

  • Murphstein,

I have written our development teams but have not heard anything yet. I wanted to make sure they were aware of the issues you were encountering.
