VBScript to send email on a service when stopped RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I was wondering, if there was a VBScript that i could use that would send me an email when a particular service stops? I've looked around the Net and can't really find anything.

Basically, I have a service that runs all through the night and needs to be running all day, and if it randomly crashes or stops, I want to know about this via an email. I want this to happen automatically.

P.s. I'm a beginner in scripting, so be easy on me !

    Thank you

  • I'm not sure... I think you're on the wrong forums, this is the "Visual Basic .Net"-forums... Not the "Visual Basic Script"-forum...

However; Google (Don't get why you didn't try Google...) gave me some script from Symantec (Yes, those guys from Norton Anti-Virus.) http://www.symantec.com/connect/downloads/sendmailvbs

Please note, however, this requires Outlook to be installed on the sending machine.

  • I got sent here from someone....

I did try Google, " I've looked around the Net and can't really find anything." That was a guide on how to simply send an email, which I can do. But need it to send a email when a particular service stops.

  • I'm not sure about what questions you asked Google, because I get a fine hit... The first one... http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1248157
