  • i figured out the problem!

I reinstalled windows 8 Dev Prv. again Metro Apps worked fine with no flaws!

After installing STEAM GAME Software, Metro Apps stops refreshing i don't know why?

SO the problem is don't install STEAM GAMES , i believe there are additional components that installs with ST EAM resulting in freezing the Metro Apps.behavior.

  • Hi Hussam,

Which apps are not working for you? Is it all apps except for Internet Explorer for Metro?

    Robert.

  • The Metro icon tiles apps are refreshing its feeds!  but once i click on any app it only shows a green or orange sold screen therefore, i have to exit back to the Metro screen.

Apps that work in the Metro screen are:

    1)IE Metro style

    2) Control Panel

    3) Desktop

    4) Windows Explorer

PS: i have Steam Gaming Power application insalled http://store.steampowered.com/about/?snr=1_4_4__11

I tried uninstalling it but it didn't help!

  • Click the Desktop App, or go to Desktop,

When Desktop opens change your screen resolution to 1024 X 768 and wow now go ahead and run any metro application it will start working normally.

  • I have the same Problem. Metro apps worked normal at first and after i installed steam they refuse to start. It comes only the start screen and after a w´hile it comes back to metro UI. Only IE, Control Panel, Windows Explorer, and all Desktop Apps work. Not a resolution problem.

Did someone found a solution for that?

  • I have the same probelm with my News feed, it loads then shows the screen with the text "Loading..." and then does nothing. I even did the general restart without harming files refresh thing and it still didn't work, it just said that no changes were made. If anyone could help that would be appreciated.

  • Only solution I found to the annoying problem is command prompt as admin run sfc /scannow and it fixes... and other than the normal errors on kernel - that every versions of windows has... I have no errors in event viewer. I have no idea what I installed that caused the problem - I do not use STEAM Games  - I have UAC off an have since installing 8102 DP,(that is not the problem), I have changed resolution (that is not the fix). I have tested additional user (that is not the fix). The only thing installed (now removed) was all the ADOBE crap that was needed to view one small web site redirect. That is not the problem ..

Surely M$ will have some simple fix to this most annowing problem... other than cmdprompt as admin -> SFC /scannow to fix.

Oh to use -start -> right click command prompt (see the check mark) -> lower right corner -> click advanced -> click run as admin

-> type SFC /Scannow after reboot all Tiles work again.

  • Hey Timothy Untan Luat,

Let's try refreshing your PC to see if you encounter the same problem afterward. Here is what will happen when you refresh your PC:

    • Your files and personalization settings won't change.
    • Your PC settings will be restored to their defaults.
    • Apps from Windows Store will be kept. All other apps will be removed.

    To refresh your PC:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Click Control Panel
    • Click General in the left column
    • Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Get started

Then follow the instructions that will be provided on the screen.

  • I have also found that -  M$ claims:

    1. U have to have UAC on....(not sure if set to default or not)

    2. U need to be logged in under Live Address.

    3. U should be be as Admin Only.

    ------------------------

What I did was (yuk) add user to : Not Admin

left UAC in On after reboot and sign in as Not Admin.

Wow, guess what Tiles started working again ... all @ 100%... so it seems to me some update that M$ put out

killed Tiles (Metro) unless you did the above ....
