Stop "You Need To Format This Disk" message for proprietary File System RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm working on a platform that has a proprietary file system. Whenever I attach a disk with this format to windows, windows tells the user that they need to format the disk. Is there a way to either prevent the message popping up (without the user having to do anything) or inform windows about the file system without writing a driver?

  • You may be able to use File System Recognition, unless the proprietary file system already places other data at the position where the FILE_SYSTEM_RECOGNITION_STRUCTURE should go.
