Outlook Add-In Not Finding Local Config File RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm using VS2012 to build an Outlook add-in.  The add-in reads from and writes to a local config file.  When running the add-in from VS2012 in debug mode, everything works just peachy - the config file is correctly read and written to.  When running the add-in from within Outlook after it is installed, it hangs at the point where it's supposed to read from the local config file.  I'm using InstallShield for the installation.  The local config file is in the installation directory, along with the dll, the manifest, and the .vsto for the add-in.  The registry entry for the deployed add-in points to the .vsto in that same installation directory.  Anyone know why the add-in can't seem to find and use the local config file when it is running as a deployed application (versus in debug mode)?  Is Outlook searching somewhere else, and if so, how do I tell it to search that location instead?  Thanks.
