INF Validation Error 1312 Needed section [STI.WSDSectionHW] should have .Hw suffix under [WSDScanDriver.Device.Hw] section.

Hello,

During WIA Driver MS certification, WIA was certified(passed) but below error exists in certified log.

INF Validation Error 1312 Needed section [STI.WSDSectionHW] should have .Hw suffix under [WSDScanDriver.Device.Hw] section.

We could not find any details about above error in MSDN website. Kindly reply to below query:

   1. In MS sample Driver Inf we could not find any reference as such:

   2. Would this error affect our Driver Submission to DevCenter and supposed to be fixed?

       If yes please help to resolve this issue.

Hi,

It looks like our sample has a typo.  Needs=STI.WSDSectionHW should be Needs=STI.WSDSection.HW

[WSDScanDriver.Device.HW]

Include=sti.inf
Needs=STI.WSDSection.HW

This will fix the error.  I believe this does have to be fixed for certification.  I will update the sample, thank you for reporting this.

Thank you, Zac. We included the suggested fix. We want to confirm by running Trial submission to DevCenter but unable to find process to do so. We want to test submission and not publish to the user. 

Also, Is "Announcement Date" mandatory for Trial submission of driver? If so then what could be the significance of this date and how to carry out Trial Submission?

We had included the fix but the error does not appear in HLK log then how can we confirm the fix because this error appears only in certified log and we do not have option for trial submissions at DEVCenter to confirm Error 1312 fix in UniversalLog.txt.

  Error 1312 in eSWScanr.inf, line 276 : Needed section [STI.WSDSectionHW] should have .Hw suffix under [WSDScanDriver.Device.Hw] section.,

What can be done in above case to confirm fix?
