SharePoint Designer 2007: Can I have a Data View Web Part based on a List’s View? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can I have a DVWP based on a List’s view?

I understand that a DVWP has features to filter a list, but I need to have the filter condition in the list’s view rather than DVWP’s properties. This way allows me to use the filtered list view in multiple pages in the site including DVWP.

    Thank you,

  • Sorry, but no you can't do that in 2007.  DVWP's in 2007 are independent from the views defined by a list.  If you upgrade to 2010 the XSL List View Web Part replacement for the ListViewWebPart in 2007 has almost all the functionality of the DVWP, but also uses views in the list.
