C# - hosting WCF in Windows service, will it be possible to access this in a different PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using two PCs.

In PC1 i am running a windows service which hosts a WCF service. If i try to access this WCF service in PC2 i get unable to connect. Is it possible to connect to a WCF service over network other than localhost (since i am able to access the WCF service over localhost on PC1)?

If accessing WCF service (hosted on windows service) over network is possible then how to achieve the same?

Note: my requirement is not to use IIS to host the service.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, assuming you are using WCF over TCP/IP,  and you have configured the firewall on the machine hosting the WCF to open the inbound port the WCF service is listening on.
