Allow users to register attendance at SharePoint Events

Question
-
At work we're going to run a bunch of Staff Learning & Development sessions. These have been created on the Institute Calendar on SharePoint (2010), each with a workspace of its own. Every instance of each SLD session is linked to the appropriate workspace.
The problem I have is making it easy for attendees to browse the calendar then click a button to say they will attend the event. Is there an easy way to do this ?
Currently they have to click through to the workspace, then manage attendees, then add, then type in their own name >> basically too many steps.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
You could try to put a link in an html editor or a summery link webpart with a link to the new item form with a source parameter to get back to the right place.
Thank you

Hi,
I think there is no easy way to add attendees to a meeting workspace. You should add attendees in the Attendees list in the workspace site.
For more information, please refer to:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-foundation-help/manage-the-attendees-in-a-meeting-workspace-site-HA010378267.aspx
Hope it helps.

Hello,
I am facing with the same problem. By going through the post I was able to find the solution but the link that needs to be specified on a HTML editor web part is: http://demo/test/Lists/Attendees/ManageA.aspx
By clicking on this link it takes the user to that page but he still has to click the "New Item" link after which he gets a pop-up where he should enter the details, which is obviously too much to do. So is there a way to get that pop-up directly when the user clicks on the link? And could you please specify whether the link that I was using was the right one or not?

Hi,
You could try to link directly to the New Form instead of the ManageA.aspx.
I don't have the link with me, but should do the job.
Thank you

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. The "new form" is actually a pop-up sort of thing....so how can I get the link for it??

Hi,
You could right click on the "popup" (in the white section) and get the link. For convinience here it is: /Lists/Participants/NewForm.aspx?RootFolder=%2Ftest1%2FLists%2FParticipants&IsDlg=1
Check for the bold part of the string. It will chang on your system.
Thank you
