Too slow with SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have a machine with 8 GB RAM,465 GB hard disk,Windows Server 2012 OS.

On this machine Sharepoint 2013 has been installed under stand alone installation.

It is too slow, its taking 1.5 hrs to create web application.

Its is taking 2 hours to create site collection.

Sometimes it says unexpected error when i try to access Sharepoint 2013 central administration.

At that time if i do iisreset Sharepoint 2013 central admin page opens up.

Earlier when i was using Sharepoint 2010,it was working fine with 4GB RAM.

Certainly when i restart my machine, manually i shoould start 'Sharepoint administration' service through services.msc

Now is this not enough with 8 GB RAM to work on Sharepoint 2013?

Please share your ideas/thoughts on the same.

    Regards,

    Sudheer

    Thanks & Regards, Sudheer

  • Personally i won't bother with less than 12GB of RAM if there's SQL on there. Even then it's not fit for use as anything more than a developer box.

You shouldn't need to restart any services after a reboot, they should all be automatic.

  • you should use 24GB for stand alone installation for SP2013

    check the below post

Single server with a built-in database or single server that uses SQL Server

Development or evaluation installation of SharePoint Server 2013 running all available services.

    24 GB

    64-bit, 4 cores

    80 GB for system drive

  • Recommended for Standalone is 16b+ , remember your database is on the same server and is CPU/Memory intensive.
