  • Hi,

I observed the same failure with same error message. Did you fix this error or try anything to solve this problem?

  • Hi,

This means that your system file may be corrupted. You can use the system file checker tool to repair massing or corrupted system files.

  • Hi Josh,

i used the system file checker tool to repair corrupted system files and then i'm getting a message like that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log <var>%WinDir%</var>\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."  But when i re run system file checker tool, i'm getting the same message for same files.

in my opinion, my file checker tool doesn't work properly. Have you got any recommend?

  • Hi Josh,

The target system is Window Server 2008, does the SFC software have WS2008 version?

  • Hi lavignelee,

Windows Server 2008 include the System File Checker (SFC) tool. Please follow the step in "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" section.

  • Hi Josh,

SFC software seems corrupted and doesn't work. How can I download a new one instead?

    Friday, May 9, 2014 9:23 AM

  • The SFC failures are caused by a Microsoft Windows update downloaded onto your client machines

    Namely KB3022345

    To fix:

First remove this update from the client systems (ControlPanel, WindowsUpdates, ViewUpdateHistory, InstalledUpdates)

On Windows 7 clients, you have to download an exe called SFCfix from http://thetechcookbook.com/windows-8-update-kb3022345-causing-corrupt-files/

On Windows 8 clients, you can run this command at an Admin Command prompt, Dism /Online /Clean-Image /RestoreHealth

Finally I would advise anybody running an HCK test setup to turn off Windows updates on the client machines.

  • 1. try to use the following command to reproduce your problem.

    sfc /scannow

    2. Run the following command in dos command to repair windows.

    A. At an elevated command prompt, copy and then paste (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER:

    l takeown /f Path_And_File_Name

    l For example, type takeown /f E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.

    B. Copy and paste (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER to grant administrators full access to the file:

    l icacls Path_And_File_Name /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F

    l For example, type icacls E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll /grant administrators:F.

    C. Copy and paste (or type the following command to replace the file with a known good copy of the file:

    l Copy Path_And_File_Name_Of_Source_File Path_And_File_Name_Of_Destination

    l For example, type copy E:\temp\jscript.dll E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.

    3.       Re-run the test
