Performance issues when writing depth data to a file RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I'm trying to write a .txt file with depth data at 30 fps. I tried using StreamWirter or FileWriter but in both cases the program "sits down" and becomes unrespondable although data is written in the file at very low frequencies.

Do you know an efficient way of writing data to file (not necessarily txt file maybe a binary file). Depth information is in short format.

    Thank you in advance, Marco.

  • What kind of write speed performance are you getting from the drive? If you are trying to record depth data, you can use Kinect Studio as a way to record and playback for testing purposes.

    General tips:
    - separate thread, data pool for saving the data. keep in mind if you are pulling data out slower than it is filling up your will have memory issues.
    - lossless compression, less data to write to disk for slower drives
