Resolution of images

    Question

  • Hi,

I know that I should design my app for a 1366x768 screen with the image aspect of 16:9. However, my photos are much bigger than 1366x768 in pixels but they still have the 16:9 relation - is that ok or do I have to resize the images so they are not more than 1366x768? It seems like windows take care of the "fitting" even if there are more pixels in the images than the current screen.

    Thanks

    Thomas

  • You can prepare several images with different sizes, check screen size on start and dynamically load the right picture.

  • 1366x768 is not the only supported resolution. For example 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 are supported too.

Windows is able to scale down you images but you should understand that big images take longer to load and scale, that leads to reduce of the app performance. So you can have big images but be reasonable about sizes.
