Dual Boot - How to remove Developer Preview?

    Question

  • So I set up a new partition to install the Preview on, but after install, it said it could not run on my hardware and just booted into windows 7.  How would I go about deleting the Developer Preview without screwing up booting windows 7?  Can i just delete the partition?  When I boot, it gives me the choice of the DP or 7, and I want to make sure I will still be able to boot 7.  Thanks

  • Hi,

    You can boot into Windows 7 and set that OS to be your default using the following bcdedit command from an elevated command prompt:

    bcdedit /default {current}

    At this point you could format or delete the Developer Preview partition. You will still have the BCD entry for Developer Preview but it can be safely ignored.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard
