HID Compliant Mouse and Windows Exclusive Read Write Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has an application where they are using a "HID-compliant mouse".  I was reading about this a bit and I have found the following:

"Windows 2000 and later have exclusive read/write access to HIDs that are configured as a system keyboards or mice. An application can obtain a handle to a system keyboard or mouse by not requesting READ or WRITE access with CreateFile. Applications can then use HidD_SetFeature and HidD_GetFeature (if the device supports Feature reports)."

    My question is the following:
    - Is there anyway to also get HID reports through a DLL or custom application that I have created (I am currently using libusb for this)?
    - Is there anyway to tell Windows kernel to detach a "HID-compliant mouse"?

Thanks in advance for your response.
