"The name '...' does not exist in the namespace '...' error with Custom Control Library RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a custom WPF control library project started from VS2008. It has grown to be quite big and contains a lot of essential controls (such as NumericUpDown, that M. has yet to release. ;P ). The structure of the project is vanilla and nothing complicated (based on the provided project template) and works/editable fine with VS2008+SP1.

The only downside with working on custom control library from VS2008 is it's lack of designer support. So, that's where I was hoping Blend 3 can help. I try to open my project solution in Blend 3 and it's complaining about each of my custom controls as "does not exist in the namespace ...". Even the lone Window1.xaml in my sample project gives this same error.

This error appears to be blocking Blend 3 from providing designer support while editing the style/template/theme. Any ideas/workarounds? Thanks.
