Oracle to SQL Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a project where an Oracle repository requires to periodically connect to SQL Servers to get some data and bring it back to Oracle.   The process would be initiated on the Oracle side(10g) operating under Unix/Linux and execute some SQL and possibly start some jobs that will spool out flat files for transmission back to Oracle.

We have an Oracle Client on the SQL Server side and use link servers and ODBC all the time going up to Oracle where process is driven from the Windows SQL Server side.

Anyone aware of what would be required on the Unix/Linux side to accomplish?

  • Hi TFrost,

In SQL Server, this kind of task is usually done with Linked Server and Job.  However, since you want to retrieve data periodically from SQL Server on Oracle side, I think the question is more appropriate to be posted in Oracle forums. Thanks.
