I want to add custom keyboard

    Question

  • I have custom keyboards created in Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator, but when I install it in Win8 thay become visible in language bar(!), and somewhat(!) visible in Language Explorer, but does not visible in Input Methods(when I click to add new input method). And I cannot use them normally. (those are ASCII keyboards for armenian and russian for using in non-unicode software)

Is there any other way to create custom keyboard for Win8?

  • stepan hakobyan,

The Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator has not been made to work with Windows Developer Preview at this time. (Nor can I comment on whether or not it will be, I do not have that information)

Have you tried installing in compatibility mode to see if that helps?

You can do this by following the below instructions:

    ·         Enter the Start screen

    ·         Move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen to expand the Charms section

    ·         Select Search

    ·         Type Compatibility

    ·         Click Settings in the right column

    ·         Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows

    ·         Then follow the prompts and direct the troubleshooter to the installer for your computer's driver.

Please post back with your results.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • No good news. Running in Compatibility mode brought to the same results.

So, there is no other way to create custom keyboard?
