Disable Concurrency Handling or Change to ClientWins in LightSwitch Html Client? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to disable Concurrency Handling or Change to ClientWins  in LightSwitch Html Client?

    We have WCF-RIA-Services as datasource. We do not want set Atributes in the entity (TimestampAttribute, ...).

  • HI J.Nord

    If you read a table record and then another user comes along and makes changes to the same record, perhaps Concurrency issues occur.

    There isn't method available to disable Concurrency handling on my side.

    You could go through this blog to deal with database Concurrency issues.

  • Hi Angie Xu

    Your example is for c#. Who is the example for the html-client (JavaScript / jQuery)???

  • Concurrency is handled server-side.

    You can disable it in your WCF RIA Service by adding a Timestamp field to your entity:

    public DateTime Timestamp { get; set; }

    You're suppose to set this in your select and update methods but if you do nothing then you will have a "last in wins" situation.

    However, this is NOT recommended, but if you need it then this has worked for me.

  • No, that is not a solution. We have in LightSwitch Silverlight the ClientWins method. We urgently need this for the HTML client. We do not want to introduce over 100 new entities datetime fields yet!
