WPT -- When is the actual timing starts? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

I just recently using WPT to measure the boot time of my machine.

I know that in order to take the time you'll get the value from 'bootDoneViaPostBoot' and subtract it to the value from 'postBootRequiredIdleTime'.

I'm curious how the process of measuring it happens.

    - Is the measurement of the boot time starts on the event when the Windows Logo appears? Is the measuring stops on Idle? by how much, 80%, 90% idle?

    - where the value from bootDoneViaPostBoot is taken?

I also tried looking at the ETL file but I think I'm too much of a newbie that I don't know where I would start looking. :-)

    Please help.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi,

    my expirions diffrent to your's.

The best way to explain would be if the Windows OS is finish to load all services (not delayed) and finish to build the user desktop.
This is typically if all try icon / task bar icon are loaded.

    Best regards
