Azure File Sync limit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I understand Azure File Sync now can support Azure Files up to 100TB (using Premium), however does the 'Azure File Sync' (aka Storage Sync Service) itself impose any 'sync' limitations on the size of the dataset that it can sync from a server endpoint to the Azure Files cloud endpoint?

    Thanks

  • Hi Kazza87,

No, Azure File Sync does not impose an additional hard limit. We currently performance test with a 50 million file/folder count that's around 20 TiB, but Azure File Sync performance shouldn't be affected by the size of the dataset.

You can see the perf and scale targets for Azure File Sync here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-files-scale-targets#azure-file-sync-scale-targets. Note that limits which are marked as not a hard limit are tested limits, and limits that are hard limits are hard limits :)

    Hope this helps!

  • Thank you Will, that's good to know as I'm planning on using 8TiB Azure Files Premium with Azure File Sync. I also plan to use 1 x server endpoint (SE) in North Europe, 1 x SE in West Europe (using the ASF in North Europe - via a VNET Peer) and also 1 x SE on-premises - all Windows Server 2016.
