Is there any technique to do Restoration fast? RRS feed

  • I have a database backup of size 139 GB and  I am restoring it on a DR site it is taking around 11 hours.Is there any technique to do it fast?

  • 11 hours seems a bit long, less than 4MB/sec.  Is the backup file file remote?  If that is the case, consider copying the backup file(s) to the target server prior to the restore.  Also, backup compression will reduce the amount of data that needs to be copied between sites.

  • In addition , please check out how many virtual log files  do you havem reducing the number may increase RESTORE operation as well
