ADC and DNS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have an active directory, dns and dhcp running on Windows 2008 server. I would like to create one ADC, Secondary DNS and Secondary DHCP server in another Windows 2008 box.

Do I need to create a secondary DNS first before creating an ADC?

Can someone help the steps to create all these three in one box?

  • Ensure your DNS zone is AD integrated (most likely it is), if not covert it to ADI

    Install second Windows 2008 server

    Join it to the domain

Open server manager and install ADDS then reboot

Run dcpromo and complete the wizard by selecting appropriate options then reboot

Open server manager and add DNS server role then reboot

Open dnsmgmt.msc and ensure DNS zones are populated via AD replication

Continue to install and configure dhcp role
