SQL Server Remote access through SSMS, Error: 10054 & Error: 64 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am remotely accessing the client's SQL Server but encountered below error.

When connect through SSMS for the first time, below error shows:

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054)

When I try the second time, we have below error:

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 64)

    Background:

    1. All firewall settings are disabled on my PC.

    2. I can ping and telnet the client's IP and Port.

    3. Have tested the connection on client side network, it works fine.

    Anyone could help?

  • The root cause is found. It is because the Web Sense Server blocked the IP. thanks everyone replied.

  • How I resolved this issue is:

    1) Stopped and disabled browser service
    2) Mentioned static Port '1433' in TCP all, under network configuration.

    3) Rebooted the server.
