Visual Studio 2012 Express under 64-bit Windows Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today, I tried to install the trial version of  Visual Studio Express 2012 on my 64-bit Windows Vista SP2 computer.  The installation appeared to go properly, but rather slowly, up to these log messages:

    [0F30:0F34][2013-08-10T17:17:23]: Applying execute package: Windows_SDK_Metro, action: Install, path: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{D11F66FF-82B3-DDB8-1146-525370552BE1}v8.59.25584\packages\Windows_SDK\Windows Software Development Kit for Metro style Apps-x86_en-us.msi, arguments: ' ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT="1" MSIFASTINSTALL="7" ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT="1" KITSROOT="C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\"'

Just what problem do these messages indicate?

For example, is there an oldest version of Windows for which this package is suitable, but that package's documentation failed to mention?

For this computer, I AM the support personnel.
