Upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Although I have the right to install Windows 7 Ultimate with my MSDN subscription, I chose to buy an upgrade because I expected it to be quicker than reinstalling the entire OS. Unfortunately, after taking my money (£125) the upgrade failed. I was simply presented with a screen telling me to try again or go online to resolve the problem. I retried several times, but got the same failure message. I went online, but was presented with a further demand for cash (£199).

    1. Does anyone have any advice for resolving this problem that doesn't involve paying £199?

    2. How come Microsoft can get away with taking money and providing nothing in return, not even an emaill address to make a complaint? This would seem to be breaching numerous consumer laws.
