Deleted AD groups still appear in SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have deleted a couple of AD groups which used in SharePoint to access different documents library.
I ran a full synchronisation after deleting the groups and I can't see them anymore in UPS connection but when I try to grant permission from the a document library I still see the groups after more than 8 hours.

Can anyone help me to get rid of this issue?

    Regards

    Ashraf

  • Hi again,

I tried this solution and it works:

    http://yoursiteurl/_layouts/groups.aspx

Then you get all the available groups. Find the one you want to delete and remove it.

  • This is correct behavior. Objects deleted from Active Directory do not get removed from SharePoint sites. In order to remove them from SharePoint sites you either need to use Remove-SPUser or go to https://siteUrl/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0 and delete it from there. This doesn't truly delete it, it just hides it from the UI.

If you delete the object in AD (or disable a user in AD), there will be no access to the resource it was previously assigned in SharePoint regardless.

  • Hi

    You can go to http://localhost/_catalogs/users/simple.aspx.

Find and delete the account in page.
