Adding Custom Task Pane into Outlook mailitem without using Ribbon RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

    I'm creating an email tracker to all emails sent out. I want to include the user control into the emails as a Custom Task Pane.

    I fount he below link on the site, but unfortunately it is using a Ribbon where a button needs to be clicked.

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb296010.aspx

    I don't want additional Ribbons to be present in this case, only the task pane to appear. I tried everything to get rid of the Ribbon part and have only the task pane but the code is a bit complex for me.

    Is it possible to have the task pane load every time when an email is created or reply/reply all function happens?

    Please advise!

    Thank you!

    Zoltan

  • Hi ZoltanKemenes,

    Add the following code to the ThisAddIn class.

    Private myUserControl1 As MyUserControl
    Private myCustomTaskPane As Microsoft.Office.Tools.CustomTaskPane

    Add the following code to the ThisAddIn_Startup event handler

    myUserControl1 = New MyUserControl
    myCustomTaskPane = Me.CustomTaskPanes.Add(myUserControl1, "My Task Pane")
    myCustomTaskPane.Visible = True

    if you are trying to create mail progrmatically at that time you can set the usercontrol to visible true. then you no need to use ribbon to use usercontrol.
