  • Hello

I am trying to enable the "container" feature in windows 10 home Operating system. While issuing the command "Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName containers -All in powershell prompt, I am getting the below error.

Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature : Feature name containers is unknown.
    At line:1 char:1

        + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature], COMExceptio
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.Dism.Commands.EnableWindowsOptionalFeatureCommand

    My Questions are

    1. Is container feature available for Windows 10 home edition..?

    2. Can I enable the container feature in my Virtual machine which has Windows 10 Enterprise ?

  • The container feature will not be available in Windows 10 Home edition.

You can run it in a virtual machine, however because Windows 10 only supports Hyper-V containers, which require the Hyper-V role, you will need to configure nested virtualization. Nested virtualization has it's own set of requirements, more info can be found here:
