common data folder in windows 8 accessible for all users RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am working on windows store app , which reads and writes data from and to xml files , which are currently kept in Documents folder. Now I want to do change in such a way that , I need to set a common location for those files so that any user who logs in (to the surface or machine) can also access the same data from that common location.

Please tell me what should be the common location and how would it be accessible in code ? Using "KnownFolders" or "Windows.Storage.Pickers" for read , write operations ?

  • There is no standard location like that. Users could set one up and the app could let them select it via the folder picker, but an app cannot programmatically create a shared space in the file system.

Another option would be to save data in the cloud. The server can then share the sme data with multiple people.
