Any Open Source Plans? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Are there any plans to make Code Contracts an open source tool with Microsoft support?

A pattern has emerged from Microsoft over the last couple of years, related to the .NET Framework at least, whereby development cycles have shrunk while APIs and tools have improved greatly due to Microsoft's use of their own http://codeplex.com website as a contribution and delivery mechanism for .NET Framework products.

I haven't thought it through completely yet, but I think I'd love to see Code Contracts as an open source project.  The open source community may help to advance this amazing tool and perhaps keep it up-to-date with new releases of Visual Studio.

I understand that the CC team is very small and has other responsibilities, yet they continue to advance Code Contracts.  Perhaps open sourcing it would relieve some of the pressure.

    Thanks,
    Dave
